Pablo Sarabia, an attacking midfielder at Getafe, a former club of Quique Sanchez Flores, is on Watford’s radar but it is not a deal the club are looking to conclude this month.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder came through the same Real Madrid youth system where Sanchez Flores started his coaching career and Watford’s head coach has kept tabs on him ever since.
Sarabia replaced Cristiano Ronaldo in a Champions League match against Auxerre in 2010 and was part of the Spain squad, featuring David De Gea, Isco and Thiago, who won the European Under-21 Championship in 2013.
“He is a very good player,” said Sanchez Flores. “He’s a free agent in four months. For the project of Watford, who are looking at younger players, he would be perfect. I don’t know exactly the situation with him and we are not talking about him at this moment.”
Sarabia has scored four times for Getafe, including the first in a 2-2 draw with Gary Neville’s Valencia in December.
