All Watford eyes will be on the KC Stadium this evening when Hull City and Arsenal meet in the FA Cup fifth-round replay to decide who will host the Hornets in the FA Cup quarter-final.
“We’d like to know who we are playing against, but it is not too difficult; they are both really good teams,” said Nathan Ake after Saturday’s game. “We just have to wait until Tuesday and then we will know. I have no preference, they are both good teams and it is a quarter-final so it is always going to be difficult to win.”
Quique Sanchez Flores places a huge amount of faith in his trusted analyst, known simply as Coté, who will be working overtime in hastily putting together clips and stats on the Tigers or the Gunners to help the head coach devise a game plan.
“I’m excited about the quarter-final,” said Sanchez Flores. “First and foremost because that is our match. Of course in one match we are able to be competitive against every single team. We have no reasons to be afraid about this competition. The only thing we have to do is to change the mentality because the FA Cup is different.”
Sanchez Flores has built his coaching reputation on cup success: five wins from six cup finals, with the only defeat coming at the hands of Sevilla in the 2010 Copa del Rey final. Ake got a brief taste of the cup-final experience at Chelsea.
“Yeah of course [we are thinking of playing at Wembley] we want to go there and it is a good objective so it is only one more game and we play at Wembley in the semi finals, so it is a good achievement,” he said. “I have not played at Wembley, but I have been on the bench: one semi-final FA Cup for Chelsea versus Man City and the Capital One Cup final [against Tottenham last season]. It would be good to go there again.”
