Video and all the reaction to that goal by Adlene Guedioura

While David Ospina is probably still picking the bones out of a shot that was faster than a Steven Finn delivery, we’ve watched endless reruns of the goal at the Emirates and scoured social media for the best reaction to the signature moment of the Algerian’s career. We’ve put it all (well, most of it, anyway) in one place below, starting with the goal:

“He has power and a strong shot and he does this a lot in training.”
Quique Sanchez Flores

“Guedioura scores like that in training, too. He hits about 17 over but when he gets it right it is amazing. He has done it before, not just for us but for other clubs and for me it is quite easy because you lay it into his path and he gets it home.”
Troy Deeney

“All I can say about his [Guedioura’s] goal is ‘wow’. When I saw his shot I said ‘wow’ but it’s not the first time I’ve seen him do that. He did it last season at Cardiff, and I know if he hits the target it’ll go in. It was a great goal and I want to watch it again!”

“I thought that ball was going to end up in Highbury. He can a hit ball, that’s for sure. I’m surprised the net saved it. It was an unbelievable strike. He’s a great individual to have around the place and hasn’t spat his dummy and hasn’t sulked. He was given his chance and he took it. There is no technique there – he’s just hit that as hard as he can.”

“I think there was a bit of frustration in that strike, a bit of ‘I wanted more minutes’. He caught it so, so well.”
Derek Payne

“I don’t think I’ve seen a ball hit as hard.”
Robbie Savage

The goal had the written media searching for superlatives…

‘Arsenal’s season was imploding. Thirteen minutes later it was in ruins after Guedioura, 18 yards out, set up by a neat lay-off from Deeney, smashed an unstoppable drive past Ospina. He won’t have hit a sweeter ball in his career. There was nothing sweet about this for Arsenal, though. Bitter, sour and rancid more like.’
Sami Mokbel, Daily Mail

The fans were still in disbelief this morning…

“Thank god it went in otherwise it might have hit me on the nose.”
