An Udinese director has said one of the experienced Napoli trio of Italy right-back Christian Maggio, Azzurri midfielder Mirko Valdifiori and Colombian wing back Juan Camilo Zuniga are likely to end up at Watford.
The Pozzos did business with Napoli last summer, landing Miguel Britos as part of a swap deal that saw Allan move from Udinese to the Stadio San Paolo for a fee of £8.63m. They look set to repeat the trick this summer, contemplating taking Maggio, 34, Valdifiori, 30, and Zuniga, 30, in exchange for Piotr Zielinski and Silvan Widmer. Walter Mazzarri has worked with both Maggio and Zuniga.
“Some newspapers have mentioned the Zielinski and Widmer operation, but we must also keep an eye on Financial Fair Play,” Udinese director Giovanni Soldati told Radio CRC. “At this moment the transfer market is fairly static, as people are preparing for the Euros. Maggio, Valdifiori and Zuniga are all interesting names. One of them could well go to Watford in the Premier League, but Valdifiori is an excellent creative midfielder and a profile Udinese are very interested in.”
