Sean Murray and Alex Jakubiak will play for Watford Under-21 side this afternoon, after they were left out of the party who set off for Austria this morning.
Murray and Jakubiak were taken to Germany last season as part of Quique Sanchez Flores’ extended squad but they have been left behind by Walter Mazzarri after not featuring in the first two friendlies against Woking and Stevenage. Mazzarri, however, has not ignored youngsters completely and has taken promising young defender Charlie Rowan to Austria.
Murray has one year left on his five-year deal and is set to go on loan to a League One or Championship club before the summer window closes. Alex Jakubiak signed a contract extension last month and was, we are told, the subject of interest from teams in Scotland, the country he qualifies to play for. Blackburn Rovers tried to sign him last season when Mark Stow, his former mentor, was chief scout there, while Stow would like to take him to Charlton, we understand.
