Club record signing Isaac Success has been cleared to play in the Premier League after the Home Office issued the summer buy from Granada with a work permit, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The Nigerian saw his application for a work permit granted by the Home Office on July 13 – and he picked up the document today, they report.
As he has not made his debut for the national team, Success is ineligible for an automatic work permit and his case had to be judged by the new Exceptions Panel, a points system based on objective criteria. These include the size of the transfer fee, the salary the player will earn and the ranking of the league the player has been playing in.
Watford broke their club record to sign a 20-year-old player who had not made 50 appearances for Granada. Allnigeriasoccer.com report “that he is one of the best paid players at the Vic”.
The fact Success now has the permit in his possession will come as a great relief. Without it, and minus the Spanish residence permit he lost, he was unable to travel to Austria with the team for pre-season.
