Watford are still very much in the hunt for Sofian Boufal and are also confident of closing a deal to imminently bring in a right wing-back.
The Hornets met Boufal, the Lille playmaker, and his representatives during the club’s pre-season tour of Austria and we understand there is another meeting planned today to try and close the deal. The fact they are discussing personal terms with Boufal, 22, would suggest the two clubs have finally agreed on a fee. Lille value him at £16.7m while Watford apparently tabled an opening bid of £6.7m.
Watford have also agreed a deal with a club to sign another international player and are confident of being in a position to unveil him tomorrow should personal terms be agreed today. We are aware of the identity of the player but have agreed to keep it under wraps to avoid the Hornets being gazumped at the 11th hour. The fact the player plays down the right-hand side would suggest Brice Dja Djedje, as we first reported, is some way off being fit.
