Roberto Pereyra has not been included in the starting XI for Juventus’ final pre-season friendly this afternoon, increasing the likelihood of Watford tying up a deal to sign the Argentine schemer.
Pereyra, 25, has been a fixture in the Juve side during their friendly programme, starting games against Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Espanyol. But he has been left out of the game against Juventus B this afternoon.
Pereyra is still in Turin as he posed for a picture shared on the Instagram account of teammate Paulo Dybala, but talks are at an advanced stage, according to a top Juve official.
“We’ve had a lot of offers for him, the player liked one of those which was Watford, belonging the Pozzo family who the lad knows well,”said Giuseppe Marotta, Juventus’ CEO. “ I think this negation will come to a conclusion one way or the other in the next 48 hours.”
Despite the windfall from the sale of Paul Pogba to Manchester United, Juventus want the money from the sale of Pereyra to help fund a move for Alex Witsel, the Belgium midfielder at Zenit Saint Petersburg.
