Watford will continue negotiations with Sofian Boufal today but have shelved their interest in signing Kenedy on loan from Chelsea.
The Hornets have agreed a deal with Lille to sign the 22-year-old Moroccan, believed to be worth around €15m. Lille apparently wanted closer to £16.7m but reports from France say they are cash-strapped.
Valencia, Chelsea, Tottenham and Southampton all hold an interest in the playmaker but Watford have seemingly stolen a march, meeting the player and his representatives in Austria last month and again yesterday. Watford will today hopefully put the finishing touches to what is described to us as “the final negotiations”.
A permanent deal for Boufal ends the interest the Hornets hold in Kenedy for the time being. The club had explored the possibility of making the 20-year-old one of two domestic loans they are permitted but Pereyra and Boufal would give them the attacking impetus they require. He, however, remains on the club’s radar.
