A furious Troy Deeney said Watford were bullied this evening at Burnley.
The Hornets were outmuscled from two corners either side of half time as Sean Dyche’s side overran this Watford side who are the tallest and most experienced, in terms of age, in the Premier League.
“It was poor,” said Deeney on Sky Sports. “I better watch my words so I don’t get in trouble. We were bullied all over the park to a man. Fair play to Burnley; they had a game plan, they stuck to it and they delivered. We just didn’t. We got beat 2-0 on TV, how do you think [I’m feeling]? We got bullied, we didn’t reach the standards, we got ran all over, first ball and second and both goals could have been avoided.
“I’m very disappointed. We’ve had the highs of the last couple of weeks and the performances were high. We set them high standards and if you don’t match them, people have every right to ask questions. And so they should. [What went wrong?] That’s a question you’ll have to ask the gaffer. I have my views.”
