Troy Deeney felt Watford were great value for their first home win of the season.
“We’ve had the toughest start of any club this season and that’s seven points,” the captain told BT Sport. “That’s massive for a club like us. We’ll enjoy tonight. We’ve got some good quality [in our dressing room] and some real men in there. I thought we were the better team in the first and I had a header, Iggy missed an open goal which we are not going to let him forget any time soon.
“The biggest part of today was that we didn’t go under [when it went 1-1] and went onto win the game 3-1. We pressed them really well, sat in when we needed to, condensed the space and were tough in the tackle. They have got high-quality players and we needed to dig in and rough them up.”
Etienne Capoue was in agreement with his captain. “Of course we deserved the three points. We deserved to score more goals in the first half but we didn’t. When they scored we showed what we can do. We finished the game so nice.”
