Watford are monitoring the development of the most promising young goalkeeper in France, according to L’Equipe.
Toulouse No 1 Alban Lafont became the youngest ever goalkeeper to play in Ligue 1 when he made his debut at the age of 16 years and 310 days last season.
Now 17, he is established as Toulouse’s first-choice keeper and has played eight times this season, keeping three clean sheets. The Hornets, Arsenal, Juventus and Porto have all apparently sent talent spotters to run the rule over the France youth international who is contracted to Toulouse until the summer of 2020.
Led by technical director Filippo Giraldi, Watford are always on the look out for promising young talent and are slowly stockpiling their academy and parent clubs Granada and Udinese with teenage players from around the world. They have already secured one young goalkeeper this season; Haviv Ohayon, the Israeli teenager keeper, is currently on loan at Vicarage Road from Maccabi Tel Aviv.
