Miguel Britos suspension and Kaboul injury leaves Watford shorthanded

Watford are facing something of a crisis at centre-half for next week’s trip to West Bromwich Albion.

Younes Kaboul, who was already a doubt pre-game, limped off after 20 minutes against Stoke and headed straight down the tunnel to be replaced by Christian Kabasele who, himself, is only just back from injury. Minutes later, Miguel Britos picked up a booking for dissent  and the rugged Uruguayan will now serve a one-match suspension. Jose Holebas and Nordin Amrabat were also booked for dissent by referee Robert Madley, taking Watford’s tally for that offence this season to ten and their overall total to 33.

Already without the injured Craig Cathcart, who is recovering from surgery to repair a hernia, and now Britos and Kaboul, Walter Mazzarri will have to decide whether to switch to a back four or hand Adrian Mariappa his first Watford appearance since he rejoined the club for the game against Tony Pulis’ men. Valon Behrami will also now miss the game through suspension after he picked up his fifth booking of the season
