Roberto Pereyra will come straight back into the side to face Manchester City, confirmed Walter Mazzarri.
The Argentine schemer missed Saturday’s win over Everton through suspension but he is available for the game at the Etihad stadium and he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
“He is the only certain player that will start because he is fresh,” said Mazzarri.
Mazzarri knows Pereyra well from his days in Serie A. He coached Napoli and Inter Milan against Udinese and Juventus sides featuring the smooth-passing No 10 but now gets to select him in his side every week. Having now worked with him close hand and day to day, is Pereyra even better than Mazzarri thought he was?
“With us, he’s going very well,” said the head coach. “I knew already what his qualities were and that was the reason why we decided to buy him. I was a bit more surprised at how much he sacrifices for the team but I knew the rest of his qualities. I am very happy, aside from his technical skills, with what he gives to the team.”
