Watford have no interest in signing Scott Hogan from Brentford, we can reveal.
The Hornets have been linked today with a big-money move for the sought-after 24-year-old, who has scored 14 goals from 25 Championship appearances.
But club sources have confirmed there is no interest in bringing the player to Vicarage Road. Watford are only looking to bring in two midfielders during this window and will reassess the forward positions in the summer window. They believe they have enough firepower in Troy Deeney, Odion Ighalo and, once fit, Isaac Success and Stefano Okaka.
Henri Lansbury has held talks with Watford about a move to Vicarage Road and is known to favour a return to the Premier League but the Hornets have been offered midfielders of a high calibre by agents and intermediaries, including a slick operator from La Liga, and are currently assessing their options. They want two midfielders, one more defensive minded than the other, of Premier League quality.
There is, however, a need to move with haste in this winter window as Watford will lose Nordin Amrabat and Adlene Guedioura after tonight’s game, leaving them chronically short-staffed in the midfield area. Indeed, the only midfield cover on the bench against was teenager Carl Stewart.
